We are looking for an experienced HGV Technician with a team-spirit to join our client’s existing team based in BARNSLEY – NEAR JUNCTION 36 of the M1.
We are a well-established company, founded in 1957, and specialists in commercial vehicle rental. Our Business has 5 depots, with fully equipped maintenance workshops in the North and South of England. From these depots we operate approximately 2000 vehicles of which approximately 1100 are above 3.5 tons.
The role of HGV Technician will involve being responsible for carrying out inspection and service routines and repairs and testing of vehicles in a professional and safe manner.
The HGV Technician will be reporting to the Workshop Manager and will be able to investigate and diagnose faults, report findings and be able to carry out all repairs to the current manufacturer’s standards.

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for managing diagnostics and ordering parts effectively whilst being able to carry out all repairs to the highest standards and with the most effective use of time.We are looking for a team player to fill this role who will be flexible and able to work to tight deadlines. You must have previous HGV technical experience and can adopt a hands-on approach to all aspects of the role to ensure continued high levels of work are carried out right first time.
£20.33 per hour (first 40 hours)
£30.50 per hour (for any hours over 40)
£40.66 per hour (hours worked before 7 am)
40-hour week + 1 in 3 Saturday mornings (8 am to 12 pm)
Hours of Work
Week 1 Shift: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Mon to Fri (with 30 mins unpaid lunch break)
Week 2 Shift: 12:00 pm – 8:30 pm Mon to Thurs and Fri 11:30 am to 8:00 pm (with 30 mins unpaid lunch break)
AND (working one in every three Saturday mornings 8:00 am – 12:00 pm at time and a half pay rate £30.50 per hour)
Additional overtime is sometimes available on top of the hours above and any hours worked before 7:00 am are at double time – £40.66 per hour.
Hourly rates breakdown
TOTAL Average Earnings Per Annum = £52,808.90
In addition the company offers a non-contractual profit share scheme that you would be enrolled into after initial qualifying period
